When we hear the word "meditation," a lot of us picture someone sitting cross-legged in silence with a totally empty mind. But here’s the truth: meditation doesn’t have to look like that,m and most of the time, it doesn’t.

Meditation is simply the act of becoming present. That might mean sitting quietly and focusing on your breath. Or it could be walking in nature, washing the dishes, or even sipping your coffee without distractions. There’s no “right” way to do it.
Some days, your mind might wander constantly. That’s okay. The point isn’t to stop your thoughts, it’s to notice them, and gently bring your attention back. It’s a practice, not a performance!
Start small. Two minutes. One minute. Just pause, breathe, and be with whatever’s happening inside and around you. You don’t need silence. You don’t need incense. You just need you.
An Easy Meditation for Busy Minds
If your brain never stops and you feel like you don’t have time to meditate—you’re exactly the kind of person who’ll benefit from it. And no, that doesn't mean you need to sit cross-legged for 20 minutes with whale sounds playing in the background (unless you want to).
Try this:One-Minute Grounding Check-In
Stop whatever you’re doing—just for a minute.
Take a breath. A real one. In through your nose. Out through your mouth.
Look around and name 3 things you can see, 2 things you can hear, and 1 thing you can feel (your feet on the floor, the chair you’re sitting on, etc).
That’s it. You just meditated.
You didn’t need silence. You didn’t need to “clear your mind.” You just showed up, on purpose, for one moment. And that matters.
Remember: we’re human. Our minds are messy, chatty, creative, chaotic, and that’s not a flaw. Meditation isn’t about shutting that down. It’s about noticing it, playing with it, being curious.
So experiment, play about. Try different ways. Maybe your meditation is stirring a cup of tea slowly, Washing your dishes or listening to music with your eyes closed. Maybe it’s a few deep breaths before opening your laptop.
Whatever it is, give yourself a break. There’s no perfect way to do this. The only mistake is thinking you’re doing it wrong.
You got this!
Happy Meditating!
