Sound Bath FAQs

We’ve created this FAQ page to help you feel prepared, informed, and totally at ease before attending a Reiki Sound Sanctuary event. Whether it’s your first time at a sound bath or you’re returning for more rest and reset, you’ll find answers to common questions around what to expect, what to bring, and who our sessions are suitable for. If you’re ever unsure, please reach out — and remember, always check with your GP if you have any health concerns before attending. Your safety, comfort, and experience matter to us.

1. What is a sound bath?

A sound bath is a deeply relaxing experience where you’re “bathed” in soothing sounds and vibrations from instruments like crystal bowls, gongs, and chimes. You simply lie down, get comfy, and let the sound do the work — helping your mind slow down and your body rest and rebalance.

2. What should I bring?

  • A yoga mat or something to lie on - We do have a limited number available if needed — they’re often used as placeholders to set the energy of the space. If you’d like to reserve one in advance, just pop us a message. Either way, we’ll do our best to make sure you feel supported and snug.

  • A blanket and pillow for comfort

  • Water bottle

  • Eye mask (optional but lovely!) - We do have a limited number available if needed

  • An open mind and permission to rest

3. What should I wear?

Comfy, layered clothing is ideal — whatever helps you relax and stay warm as your body cools down during deep rest.

4. Can I attend if I’m pregnant?

Sound baths are generally considered safe during pregnancy, especially after the first trimester. However, as every pregnancy is different, we always recommend checking with your GP or midwife before attending. You are responsible for your own health and wellbeing when choosing to participate.

If you do attend, you may wish to sit slightly upright or on your side with extra cushions for support. Always listen to your body and feel free to step out if you need to.

5. I have a heart condition or wear a pacemaker, is this safe for me?

Most people can safely enjoy sound healing, but certain frequencies and vibrations may not be recommended for individuals with heart conditions or those with implanted medical devices such as pacemakers. Please consult your GP or healthcare provider before attending. By joining the session, you accept responsibility for your participation.

6. Will I have to do anything during the sound bath?

Nope! Just relax. You’ll be guided gently at the start and end, but there’s no movement, talking, or “doing” involved. It’s your time to simply be.

7. Can children attend?

Unless it’s a child-friendly session, sound baths are generally best suited for adults and older teens, due to the need for stillness and quiet.

8. I’ve never done anything like this — what if I fall asleep or feel emotional?

That’s totally normal! Some people doze off, others feel energy shifting, and some feel deep emotions arise — all of it is welcome and part of the process. Just trust your experience and know you're held in a safe space.

9. Are there any side effects?

Most people feel calm, refreshed, or even lighter after a session. Occasionally, people may feel emotional, tired, or have vivid dreams as the body and mind release stuck energy. This is part of the rebalancing process and usually settles within 24–48 hours.

10. Can I book a private session or host a group event?

Absolutely. If you’d like a private 1:1, a ceremony with friends, or to include sound healing in a retreat or gathering, just get in touch to discuss.

Important Note!

While sound healing is a gentle and supportive practice, it is not a substitute for medical care or mental health support. Always consult your GP or healthcare professional if you are pregnant, have a medical condition, or are unsure whether sound healing is suitable for you.

By attending a Reiki Sound Sanctuary session, you agree that your participation is at your own discretion and responsibility.

Cacao FAQs

Can I drink Cacao while pregnant?

We are unable to offer medical advice, so if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult your GP or midwife before attending. That said, we’ve welcomed many pregnant women to our ceremonies who have chosen to enjoy a small amount of Cacao. We recommend no more than half a cup (around 10–15g) per day. Always listen to your body and do what feels right for you.

Is there caffeine in Cacao?

Cacao contains only trace amounts of caffeine — much less than tea or coffee. It does, however, contain Theobromine, a natural stimulant that offers a gentler, more heart-opening lift. It’s often described as a floaty, creative, and connected kind of energy, rather than a jittery one.

How is the Cacao made?

Our Cacao is lovingly prepared and always vegan. It’s blended with coconut milk, coconut sugar, maple syrup, agave, a pinch of salt, and infused with Reiki symbols and good energy. It’s made with pure intention — to support your experience, energetically and physically. The full recipe is shared over on our blog if you’d like to try it at home!
